Apple and Toshiba are two of the most popular brands of laptops in the world for a whole array of reasons. They are also two of my favorite brands of laptops as each has their own unique selling points.
Everyone knows that Apple computers are always way more expensive than usual. For the sake of comparison lets compare between the Apple MacBook Pro MC118LL / A and the Toshiba Satellite A505-S6979. Both this model runs on a 2.53Ghz Intel processor and 4GB of RAM. For storage, the Toshiba model has a 320GB hard drive while the Apple laptop has 250GB.
The Apple laptop on the other hand has a 7 hours battery life, while the Toshiba model has only up to 3.8 hours. Taking the overall specs into consideration Apple and Toshiba come up to a draw. The Apple laptop costs around $ 1700 while the Toshiba model around $ 1100. That's a $ 600 difference.
In terms of features, Apple looks to have more frills that regular laptops. Some of the exclusive features include multi-touch gestures and a lighted keyboard. Although these are really cool features, some consumers would not be willing to fork out the extra $ 600 for it. The new Toshiba laptops also have a couple of new features that are exclusive to them. You can now use the USB ports to charge your devices even when the laptop is off or on standby mode. Toshiba laptops are also famous for their durability where they are known to last for up to 5 years or more.
After that, Apple laptops have a big advantage over regular laptops. When it comes to multi-tasking speed, the performance of Apple laptops are unrivaled by any other non-Apple models. This is mainly due to the structure of the Mac OS. The sleek design of Apple laptops is also another selling factor for many consumers. The extra premium that you pay for Apple computers do come with a couple of extra features. Whatever you think the extra features are worth it or not would depend on your personal preference.
