You can now buy genuine iPhone 18 Pro parts straight from Apple and fix the phone yourself. Apple has added the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to its Self Service Repair Store, alongside parts for the M5 Max and M5 Ultra Mac Studio and the M6 and M5 Pro Mac mini, multiple outlets reported on October 20 and 21. The store is live in the US, Canada and Europe, according to MacRumors.
The parts list covers most of what breaks: back glass, batteries, top and bottom speakers, rear and front cameras, displays, enclosures, logic boards, main microphones, SIM trays, and Taptic Engines. Apple also sells or rents the tools, adhesive cutters, suction cups, nylon probes, torque drivers, and screws, and publishes official repair manuals with step-by-step instructions. The program has been running since 2022, and Apple is explicit that it is aimed at people with the skills and experience to repair electronics. SIM trays, incidentally, are still on the parts list even in the markets where the iPhone 18 Pro is eSIM-only.
The full price table, with return credits
Apple discounts most parts if you send back the original component. The effective prices are the ones that matter:
| Part | List price | Return credit | You pay | Approx. INR |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rear camera | $249 | $59.76 | $189.24 | ~₹16,700 |
| Display (iPhone 18 Pro) | $329 | $16.45 | $312.55 | ~₹27,500 |
| Display (iPhone 18 Pro Max) | $379 | $18.95 | $360.05 | ~₹31,700 |
| Battery (both models) | $129 | $61.92 | $67.08 | ~₹5,900 |
| Back glass (both models) | $159 | $38.16 | $120.84 | ~₹10,600 |
| Front camera (both models) | $199 | $47.76 | $151.24 | ~₹13,300 |
| Tool kit rental (7 days) | $49 | n/a | $49 | ~₹4,300 |
Two details stand out. The $249 rear camera costs exactly the same as last year’s iPhone 17 Pro camera, even though the iPhone 18 Pro line adds a new variable-aperture system. And the return credits are wildly uneven: the battery credit wipes out nearly half the price, while the display credit is barely five percent.
What a DIY repair really costs: three examples
A cracked display on the iPhone 18 Pro: $312.55 for the part after the credit, plus the $49 tool rental if you do not own the tools, about $361.55 before any adhesive or screws. A battery swap: $67.08 after the credit, plus tools, so roughly $116 if you rent the kit. A rear camera swap: $189.24 plus the $49 rental, about $238.
Those totals assume you return the original part for the credit and that nothing goes wrong. They do not include the supplies Apple lists for each procedure, which can be bought separately, or the cost of your time and the genuine risk of breaking something else. Apple says to read the official repair manual before ordering anything, which is the step most people skip and should not.
When DIY makes sense, and when it does not
The math works best for simple, low-risk repairs. A battery swap at $67 after credit is the clearest win in the store, assuming you are comfortable opening a phone sealed with adhesive. A display replacement at over $300 before tools starts to look less attractive, and a camera swap requires genuine care.
For comparison, Apple’s own store repairs usually cost more, and out-of-warranty repairs on the foldable side of the family are eye-watering: an iPhone Duo screen repair can run to $999, as we reported this week. Professional service still makes sense for anything involving the logic board, or when the phone is under AppleCare, where the repair fee is a fraction of the parts cost. And if you are still deciding between Apple’s two flagships, the iPhone Duo’s benchmarks, prices and pre-order details are worth a read first.
The fine print worth reading first
A few caveats before you order. The iPhone 18 Pro Max battery is still listed as “Coming Soon,” so only the regular Pro’s battery is actually buyable today. The parts store is available in the US, Canada and Europe, but not yet in India, so Indian readers should treat these prices as a preview for now. And the return credit only applies if you actually send the original part back in the condition Apple requires.
Apple’s Self Service Repair is four years old now, and this expansion, landing alongside expanded US supplier partnerships for the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone Duo, is the clearest sign yet that the company takes the DIY repair crowd seriously. For most people the Genius Bar remains the sane choice. But for those with the skills, the prices are finally public, and the battery deal in particular is hard to argue with.
