CANCER
Cancer is a dangerous disease which is rapidly increasing day by day. Cancer is not a single disease. Cancers actually are of different types, including, Brain, Breast, Blood, Bladder, Lung, Cervical, Ovarian, Colorectal, Pancreatic, Esophageal, Kidney, Skin, Thyroid, Liver, Uterine, etc.
Cancer begins when cells grow out of control and crowd out normal cells of our body. It can infect any part of the human being. Cancer actually makes hard for the body to work in a normal manner. In fact, sometimes, it becomes hard to save the life of a cancer patient. But, a proper treatment works very well for many people.
HUMAN BODY CELLS
The cells in human bodies have a certain set of jobs. Normal cells divide in an orderly way. They die when they are damaged and a new cell takes their place.
CANCER CELLS
The cancer cells grow out of control and make new cells. They infect normal cells too. The cancer cells cause problems in the part of the body where the cancer started. In fact, they can also spread to other parts of the body.
HOW ARE CANCERS DIFFERENT?
Some cancers grow as well as spread quickly while other cancers grow slowly. In fact, their treatment procedure responds in different manners. Some types of cancer are best treated with surgery while others respond better to drugs called chemotherapy.
The first priority of a doctor is to know about the type of cancer a person is suffering from. After that he continues the treatment procedure accordingly.
BONE CANCER
Bone cancers are of two types which includes primary and secondary bone cancer. A primary bone cancer takes place in the bone while secondary cancer begins elsewhere in the body and then after spreads to the bone of the human body.
TYPES OF BONE CANCER
OSTEOSARCOMA: This is also called as OSTEOGENIC SARCOMA. In fact, it is the most common type of bone cancer and typically begins in bone cells of arms and legs. This type of bone cancer occurs most frequently in a person between the ages of 10 and 30. It is more common in males as compared to females.
CHONDROSARCOMA: It begins in cartilage cells. It is found that it is the second most common form of the bone cancer. It occurs rarely in an individual under the age of 20.
EWING TUMOR: It is also known as Ewing’s sarcoma, typically develop in the bones, but can also take place in other tissues as well as muscles. This type of bone cancer is the third most common type of primary bone cancer. This tumor infects children and adolescents.
FIBROSARCOMA TUMOR: This tumor typically forms in the soft tissue around the bones, such as tendons, ligaments and fat or muscle. These types of bone cancer infect in the arms, legs and jaws of adults.
GIANT CELL TUMOR: This tumor has two different forms, including, benign and malignant. It often forms in the arm or leg bones of young and middle-aged adults. This type of cancer rarely spreads to other area of the human body.
CHORDOMA TUMOR: This kind of tumor affects bones in the spine and the base of the skull. It develops most frequently in adults about 30 or older, mostly men. This type of tumor grows slowly with a low risk of spreading to different parts, but may return at the original part if not removed completely during surgery, and may eventually spread to the lungs and liver.
SYMPTOMS OF BONE CANCER
PAIN: Pain in the affected bone is the most common symptom of patients suffering from bone cancer. In the beginning, the pain is not constant. It may be increased at night or when the bone is used due to several activities, like walking and running. As the cancer spreads, the pain will remain all the time.
SWELLING: Swelling in the area of the pain may not take place until a few weeks later. It might be possible to feel a mass or lump depending on the area of the cancer. Tumor in the bones of the neck can lead to lump in the back of the throat that causes trouble in swallowing and breathing.
FRACTURES: Bone cancer weakens the bone it develops in, but most of the time the bones do not fracture. People with a bone fracture often describe sudden pain in a limb that had been sore for a few months.
OTHER SYMPTOMS: Tumor in the bones of the spine can press on nerves which generally tend to numbness and weakness. Cancer may lead to weight loss and fatigue as well.
