Entertainment With ViP Series DVR and Internet in Dish Network

Subscribers of Dish Network can gain bulk programming and Dish Remote Access capability by connecting any of Dish Network’s ViP DVRs with the Internet service. With a ViP DVR and Internet service combo, subscribers can bring instant access to thousands of on demand movies, pay per view movies and events. They can get access to Dish Remote Access to control DVRs, set recordings remotely and many more. Subscribers should connect any of the Dish Network’s ViP DVR with the internet. This article explains the different ways to connect the ViP DVR with the Internet service.

Subscribers can connect their ViP DVR to the Internet service in mainly three different ways. Potential subscribers can have any ViP Dish Network DVR. Below is given a brief note on each ViP DVRs of Dish Network.

ViP DVRs in Dish Network:

  • ViP922 Slingloaded DVR: The ViP922 Slingloaded DVR with built-in Sling technology includes TV Everywhere service and lots of other useful features. With this DVR, subscribers can watch programs on TV as well mobile devices, watch one show while recording another and so on. This single DVR is capable of performing multiple function at the same time.
  • DuoDVR ViP 722k: A single DuoDVR ViP 722k can be connected to two TVs (one SD and other HD TV). It supports independent viewing on the separate TVs. Recording of programs can be carried out while watching another program. A number of other advanced features are blended in this DVR.
  • Duo ViP 222k: Duo ViP 222k DVR can be connected to two TVs (one HD and one SD TV). It supports independent TV viewing on the two TVs placed in separate rooms. In case of HD content it can render all HD display resolutions and Dolby Digital sound.
  • Solo DVR ViP 612: Solo DVR ViP 612 can be connected to one high-definition TV. It has a built-in DVR that can be set for recording.
  • Solo ViP 211k: Solo ViP 211k can be connected to a single HD TV. This DVR renders a number of features along with good sound and quality picture.

Ways to connect any ViP series DVR with Internet: As mentioned earlier, there are three ways to connect a ViP series DVR to the Internet. They are:

  • Wired Connection
  • Wireless Connection
  • Slinglink Turbo Connection

Wired Connection:

  • Connect the Ethernet cable from the port located on back of ViP DVR receiver to an open port on the router.
  • Verify the connection by pressing Menu on Dish Network Remote. Select System Setup → Diagnostics → Connection. If the result says “Broadband Connection OK”, return to programming.
  • If by any chance the test shows a failure message, check all connections and reset the router and repeat the test.

Wireless Connection:

  • Connect the Dish Wireless Connector to the USB extender. After that connect the USB extender to the USB port located on the back of the ViP DVR receiver.
  • Now select “Setup” from the message that appears on the screen. Next, select a wireless network from the list that appears on the screen and select “Done”.
  • Enter the wireless network’s password and select “Done”. Check that the Wireless Signal reading on the screen is above 40. If it is so, select “OK”.
  • Verify the connection by pressing Menu on Dish Network Remote. Select System Setup → Diagnostics → Connection. If the result says “Broadband Connection OK”, return to programming.
  • If by any chance the test shows a failure message, check all connections and reset the router and repeat the test.

Slinglink Turbo Connection

  • First, find the power outlet nearby the modem/router and then plug in the SlingLink Turbo connector.
  • Connect an Ethernet cable from the port on modem/router to the Ethernet port on SlingLink Turbo Connector.
  • Reset the DVR receiver. To do this, unplug the receiver from the power source and keep it for minimum 10 seconds and plug it back. The receiver will take 5 minute to reboot.
  • Verify the connection by pressing Menu on Dish Network Remote. Select System Setup → Diagnostics → Connection. If the result says “Broadband Connection OK”, return to programming.
  • If by any chance the test shows a failure message, check all connections and reset the router and repeat the test.

Benefits: There are many benefits of having ViP DVR connected to home broadband service. Subscribers can access movies and many useful features. Lets have a deep look on these benefits.

Video On Demand: Subscribers can access Video On Demand service when they connect their ViP series DVR with home broadband. Video On Demand give access to thousands of movies and shows every month. Subscribers can find all types of movies. And most importantly they can watch immediately once they select their movie or show. They can choose from new releases, old favorites and free titles. Also adult programs are available in Midnight Lounge. HD Movies in Blue-ray Disc and 1080p resolutions are available for subscribers with HD TV.

Dish Remote Access: When subscribers have their ViP DVR connected to home broadband, they can access Dish Remote Access. Dish Remote Access is an application from Dish Network that can be downloaded for free by subscribers on compatible smartphones, PCs and laptops. With this application, subscribers can manage their DVR library remotely via PCs and mobile devices. iPhone and iPad can be used as Remote of the Dish receiver. Subscribers can browse and search programs on the program guide. Even they can schedule recordings and delete the old ones.

From above explanation, it is clear that subscribers get bulk programs by just connecting their ViP series DVR with the home Internet service. The ways of connection are simple and easy.
