Your car is beyond a mere mode of transport. Rather, it's your best friend and companion – accompanying you in almost every walk of life. So, it's your prime duty to take good care of your friend. Although timely services help combat breakdowns to a certain extent, some incidents are just inevitable. No matter how much you hate taking your car to a repair center, it's an unavoidable fact of life. When you leave your vehicle in a repair garage, you can't help but worry about the kind of work done on your automobile. The best protection against fraud and faulty repairs is to hire a reputable car repair garage.

One of the most common varieties of customer rip-offs is the car upkeep fraud. For most of the people, vehicles are an important part of their day-to-day lives. However, they may run short of the experience or knowledge to fix the problems to perfection. Regardless of the nature of problem experienced by our car, we assign the repair job to professionals, who diagnose the issue and fix them straight away. Sadly, this makes it easier for auto technicians to cheat the innocent clients. They prescribe repairs that aren't always necessary, charge an excessive price for quick services, and find other techniques to dupe you right under your nose. So, here are a few handy tips to stay away from such deceitful practices.

Get everything on papers

Write down a detailed description of your vehicle's issues, before you step into the garage. Likewise, make sure that the technician has a copy of it. Make a detailed list of all the warning signals that you get from your vehicle. This is the best way to figure out the defects in your car. When you become aware of your car's defects, the mechanics find it difficult to cheat or deceive you.

Avoid unpleasant surprises

Protect yourself against unbelievably huge repair bills. You can do this by requesting the technicians to seek your permission before doing any type of repair or replacement that's not there in the work order. Get this contract in writing. That way, the repair shop can't do any unnecessary repair and charge you a massive fee.

Seek a second opinion

If you feel that the estimated price of a repair shop is too high, consider taking a second opinion. Get in touch with other car garages and ask them for cost estimates. If it's a small or insignificant damage, it's easy to get a list of quotes from different service providers. However, for massive damages, the mechanics must take your car for detailed diagnosis. It's only after this assessment job, that an auto garage can give you an estimated price quote.
