The Mazda 6 is the best seller for Mazda and it's not difficult to see why. The family hatch mirrors great value and blends style with dynamics in way that none of its competitors can. The smooth, aerodynamic body does well to hide what is an outstanding practical car. It offers good boot space and lots of room for adults in the rear. The Mazda 6 definitely stands out from the crowd. The V shaped grille, couple like step and sleek headlights give it a sporty appeal. Inside all the controls are easy to use but one let down is the use of cheap and hard plastics making the Vauxhall Insignia and Ford Mondeo a nicer place to sit for long journeys.
To make sure Mazda 6 looks different from others in the class, Mazda has worked hard on giving a good experience behind the wheel. This results in light and composed chassis but it soaks up bumps without fuss. Although the 6 feet live in the corners but it is not in the same league as the Ford Mondeo. The accurate gear change is a joy to use, but it needs to be worked hard for maximum performance. The 2.2 diesel sprints from 0-62mph in just 9.29seconds but the 2.0 TDCi Mondeo does the same time in 9.5 seconds. Mazda owners are satisfied with their car as it is reliable and safe. Mazda 6 is a safe vehicle as it has ESB as standard. It was also awarded a full five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test rating.
The family friendly Mazda 6, is very spacious and there is good head and legroom at the rear despite not being as big as a Ford Mondeo. The boot space stands at 510 liters and with seats down it increases to 1702 liters. It has lots of storage space inside the car as well. If you want to have an economic vehicle, then the tough diesel engines are the pick of the bunch. The 2.2 liter manages to emit 133g / km of CO2 and return 54.3mpg. The 6 manages decent economy but still leaves a gap for a super-eco model. Mazda 6 lets itself down by being noisy at speeds, narrow seats and having cheap interior plastics. It has great handling, it is practical and stylish.
Neverheless, the Mazda offers great levels of kit, with cruise and climate control standard on all but the base model. The latest Mazda 6 Saloon is also longer than its predecessor. It's taller and wider which means 20mm of extra shoulder room in the front and back. The door openings are now wider as well so that long legged passengers can get in and out easily. It does have a firm ride on the basic models. The boot is 486 liters which is better than Ford Mondeo and Honda Accord. Optional assistance is also at hand with radar cruise control, emergency braking override and lane departure warning. The Mazda 6's dramatic looks and efficient engines make it a direct rival to Skoda Superb and Ford Mondeo.
