Five years ago, in 2003, U.S. president, George W. Bush promised that he’ll try to do his best and make fuel-cell cars free of pollution. In the same year, he proposed a $1.2 billion investment in research and development of a new revolutionary car that will be pollution free. This car was called Freedom Car and it’s supposed to work with a simple chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen.
A couple of years ago, a scientist has figured out the solution and he created a car that would run only with water. No hydrogen tanks, no “bombs” in the car’s trunk, only an electrolysis system and water. The car was supposed to travel from one corner of the United States to the other with just 20 gallons of water. The name of this brilliant scientist was Stanley Meyer but unfortunately he died 10 years ago.
Through electrolysis an electrical current goes through water and separates hydrogen from oxygen. Hydro cars will use hydrogen as their fuel and will release the oxygen into the atmosphere. This means the cars would be pollution free and the environment will become cleaner and healthier for everyone.
There are several companies that will try to turn this project, this idea into production in the next years, and probably in the next decade we’ll see what happens. General Motors said that they will try and make over 200,000 water hydro cars if everything works fine and other companies will also try to get involved as much as they can.
Honda is the first car manufacturer that received an approval and certification for an hydrogen car. They’ve created a great car hydrogen fuel cell car called FCX and there are 20 models already on the roads in US and 7 in Japan but the number is probably growing.
We still have to wait several years until we’ll be able to drive or own a water hydro car and even though they might be expensive, when cars like these will be made available to buy, it’s surely an investment that will worth every penny.
