Recently, I received a call from a customer who was unhappy about his recent purchase. He had purchased an Invicta Watch with a Swiss Quartz Movement. After approximately six months of use, the watch began running quickly. I suggested the customer send in their watch to Invicta’s authorized service center. Invicta fixed the watch, but sent a bill for repairs. The buyer asked me to pay the bill. I told the buyer that the watch came only with a manufacturer warranty. I cannot afford to fix everyone’s watch. It is the manufacturer’s responsibility. While I wish this never happened it does. There are however Invicta products that are more reliable than others.
As stated earlier the watch the customer had purchased possessed a Swiss Quartz movement. While the Swiss have the best reputation for creating fine timepieces, this is mainly limited to mechanical movements that are either self-winding or automatic. Their reputation for quartz movements on the other hand is non-existent. Most of Invicta’s watches are quartz. I recommend customers buying a quartz Invicta Watch purchase a Watch with a Japanese quartz movement. This is a similar movement that Japanese watch brands such as Casio, Seiko, and Citizen us.e. These brands have much better reliability reputations. An Invicta Watch with a Japanese quartz movement is just as reliable as any of the Japanese brands, I never receive complaints about these watches. If your looking for an Invicta Watch and reliability is a concern, please buy a Japanese Quartz.
Of course Invicta offers more than just quartz watches. they also offer mechanical self-winding and automatic watches. How do they perform? The answer is not straight forward. Automatic watches are usually quite good. In particular, automatic watches with a Swiss ETA movement are excellent. ETA manufactures about 90% of the world’s automatic movements, this movement however tends to only be featured on Invicta’s more expensive watches, usually $500 plus. Non-ETA movements are usually manufactured by Invicta and surprisingly are generally reliable. The watch will probably not last multiple generations but they usually do not break after six months either. Invicta automatic watches can start as low as $50 too so they are not too expensive. All self-winding Invicta watch movements are manufacture made. While I have received no complaints about these, I sell very few of them. As such I do not feel qualified to make an opinion. they are however inexpensive and start around $100.
