Repairing dents is often done with a drill or a dent puller and sometimes even a grinder and some related tools. Those dents that don’t come with missing paint, or chips and cracks can be completely or almost completely rectified with processes related to paintless dent repair. You will find these methods require the simplest of tools that you will find ordinarily in your garage. It will save you the hassle of taking your car to the body shop and allow you to save some money.

One technique of going about paintless dent removal is the household method. Here you will need a simple household plunger. The style really doesn’t matter. Dampen the dent with some water and put on some car washing liquid or soap on it. You need to do this to create suction. Place the plunger over the dent and press. Make sure the pressure is not so high that you end up making a bigger dent. Once the suction is created, use the normal suction method and pull at the plunger. This will get rid of the dent for you. You can do this as many number of times you please and get the metal back in place. It will not affect the car body in anyway. The plunger is a simple way of pulling the metal back in place without having to get a professional to do it.

The other method is the hammer and dolly one. There are some dents that a plunger will not be able to handle. If you have a dent that is accessible from two sides then you could go to a automotive store and get a metal dolly and a body hammer. In case you can’t a block of wood will serve the purpose, but it has to be a inch thick and fresh. If the dent has any plastic liners around it, remove them from place. Put your wooden dolly on the back of the dent and tap on the body with the hammer. Don’t hit, but tap. Hitting will create a bigger dent and may even chip the paint. Do this repeatedly and slowly and you will be able to get the dent out of the way.

Of course, a person might become a bit concerned of getting quality results in their dent repairs. DIY repair methods, while a cheap option, can produce unsatisfactory results. Automobiles are expensive investments and if the owner wants to restore them to their peak condition and value, then it is recommended that they consult a paintless dent repair company to have the dent removed. Most paintless dent repair companies employ trained, certified paintless dent repair technicans and utilize the latest in industry PDR methods. By engaging a certified PDR technician, the car owner has the peace of mind of knowing that their car will be restored to its pre-dent condition and value.
