Windshield Repair 101
Automotive windshields are constructed with two layers of glass and a layer of plastic inserted between them for safety in the event of auto glass breakage. When breakage in a windshield occurs, an air gap or small crack opens up as a result of rock damage to the glass. If not repaired, the damage will eventually continue to increase with temperature changes and vehicle auto glass flexing in normal usage.
Windshield repair provides the complete evacuation of the air in the break, along with the complete fill of resin and the complete curing of the resin. As a net result, windshield repair will restore strength to the windshield, improve the optical clarity to the damaged area, and prevent the break from continuing to spread, eliminating the need for complete windshield replacement.
Before and After Your Travel Plans
If you plan to travel via car this summer, take the time to examine your windshield (and oil and tires) before you go. If you have a sneaky crack or chip, get it fixed before your trip to prevent further damage. Likewise, when you get back, check again, since you will have been exposed to trucks with flying rocks or debris, as well as storms that may have caused damage you didn’t notice under that layer of bugs on your windshield.
Mobile Windshield Repair to the Rescue!
The last thing you feel like doing in the sweltering heat is taking your car to a windshield crack repair shop in the middle of your day. Fortunately, many technicians and mobile windshield repair companies offer remote services, and will come to your car, whether it is at work or at home, and fix the crack or chip on-site.
Some mobile windshield repair shops charge more for the mobile service, while others offer a single flat rate. It’s worth a slight premium for the convenience and comfort of knowing your windshield is getting quality repair without you having to leave home or work!
