The magnetic flywheel generator is not a new invention but there has been a relative explosion of interest in it within the last couple of years. What is it and who invented it? Can it really generate electricity for free and, if so, how can someone acquire one for their own use? I will reveal all in this article.

Ed Leedskalnin Flywheel – What Started It All

There are actually many versions of magnetic motor that have been tinkered with throughout the decades but one of the earliest was a flywheel variation that was built and operated by Latvian emigre, Ed Leedskalnin.

Leedskalnin settled in Florida in the early 20th century where he decided to build what is today known as Coral Castle. This was a monument created from several huge limestone blocks that took years to build.

In those days, modern heavy lifting machinery was not available. So how did Leedskalnin build his monument? Whenever he was asked he gave only a cryptic response.

The answer most likely lies in his flywheel. Operated by a hand crank, Leedskalnin was said to have built it based on his own studies of ancient civilizations such as the Aztecs and the Ancient Egyptians. He worked at night to keep his secret safe and only ever showed one other person how he moved the blocks. Local teenagers spying on them as they worked were said to have seen large blocks levitating through the air.

The Modern Magnetic Generator

These days generators do not use flywheels. Although a flywheel is a great device for conserving energy, they are too bulky and cumbersome for domestic use.

The last few decades have seen many enthusiasts continuing to develop magnetic generators in their spare time. No longer do they feature flywheels but today one can get a device that will generate a perfectly reasonable 7 kilowatts of electricity without one.

Commercial models are still a few years away as they are intended to work reliably on an industrial scale and much more testing and development needs to be done. However, if all that you want to do is create electricity for your home then you can also build one yourself, with a difference.

Instead of tinkering away for years trying to figure out how these things work, you can instead pay a nominal amount ($ 50 around) for a solid, reliable set of tried and tested plans. This is the quickest and most direct route to canceling your contract with the electricity company so it makes the most economic sense.
