Did you know that window tint can keep your vehicle up to 60% cooler and block up to 99% of UV rays? If you want to protect your car and protect your skin while driving, window tinting is the best option.

However, the amount of protection that you receive will depend on the type of window tint you choose. So, what are the different types of car window tints? Keep reading to find out.

Dyed Window Tint

One of the types of car window tints is dyed window tint. These are the best car window tints for those looking for affordable options.

The dyed variants allow this tint to block sunlight through different layers. They can absorb solar heat and reduce the temperature inside of the car.

The downside is that this won’t provide much protection against UV rays. Because it is available in various opacity levels, it’s best for enhancing the windows.

Metalized Window Tint

A higher level of car window tinting in the automotive industry is a tint that uses metalized materials. Instead of dyes, this tint is infused with small metal particles to block sunlight.

Metalized tints will create a luster or shine while protecting the window from shattering. The main benefits of this type of window tint include:

  • Blocks heat from entering the vehicle
  • Reduces glare
  • Blocks UV rays

Although it can block UV rays, it is not the best tint for avoiding UV exposure.

Hybrid Dye and Metallic Tint

If you want the best of both of the above options, the hybrid tint could work for you. Generally, this tint is made up of grey dye and titanium metallic flakes.

It’s not too dark but reflective enough to block UV rays and reduce sun exposure from inside the car. This mid-level tint won’t affect how well you can see when driving at night.

Carbon Tint

Carbon infused tints are the most elevated options for vehicle ownership. The matte finish blocks almost half of the infrared radiation.

Infrared radiation is the main contributor to the increase in indoor car temperature. Carbon tint is also good at blocking UV exposure that can cause aging and fading of interior vehicle materials.

Carbon tint doesn’t fade as much as the above options do. It will last you longer and typically holds up for several years. Carbon tinting is the most expensive option but the quality makes it worth it for a lot of car owners.

Crystalline Tint

Crystalline is the best window tint for car owners who want the benefits of cooling their car’s interior without the window darkening effects. Crystalline window tints can make this happen and reduce wear and tear.

The Types of Car Window Tints for Vehicle Owners

If you are looking forward to getting your car windows tinted, you might be surprised to find out that there are different types of car window tints.

Depending on your needs, you’ll prefer one tint over the other. If you are concerned about price, dyed window tints are a good option. If you want to block UV exposure, carbon tints are the way to go.

You’ll have all of the information you’ll need to choose from this guide. For more auto and motor articles, check out the other posts on our blog.
