Magnetic generators have claimed to be one of the best free alternative energy sources. Solar panels require sun light, wind turbines – wind, bio-gas – some kind of organic wastes. Magnetic generator runs independently and perpetually without any visible energy input. Electricity is produced by push-pull forces of permanent magnets. There are even types of motionless magnetic generators without rotating or otherwise moving parts, so you do not have to lubricate bearings.

So far – so good. But is it so good? From my school years I remember, that Perpetuum Mobile or Perpetual Motion Machine is name of device which continually produces more energy than it consumes. I also remember the law of conservation of energy, which states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. It means that either such device cannot be made, or law of nature is wrong.

I have read great number of information on the magnetic generator. Most of it in some way just repeated “perpetual”, “permanent magnet energy”, “zero-point”. (And most of authors, I suppose, do not even know what term “zero-point” means). I was going to quit that boring reading, but in one article I have met name of Nikola Tesla.

Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) – great scientist, an inventor and a mechanical and electrical engineer. Tesla’s patents and theoretical work formed the basis of modern alternating current (AC) electric power systems, including the polyphase system of electrical distribution and the AC motor, electromagnetism, robotics, remote control, radar and computer science, nuclear physics, and theoretical physics. In 1943, the Supreme Court of the United States credited him as being the inventor of the radio.

One of his discoveries was what he called “radiant energy”. He stated that electric power is everywhere present in unlimited quantities and can drive the world’s machinery.

In our days research on magnetic generators was made by Tom Bearden, J.L. Naudin (France), Steve Utne, Frank Golden and others. In 2000 was issued US Patent 6,362,718 : Motionless Electromagnetic Generator. Inventors: Patrick Stephen L; Bearden Thomas E.; Hayes James C.; Moore Kenneth D.; Kenny James L.

So it is not “perpetual” magnetic generator in strict terms of physics, it uses free electromagnetic energy of space in same way as solar batteries use free energy of sun and wind turbines use free energy of wind.

I found that magnetic generator, rotating or motionless, does not break any known laws of nature and can be made. Another question, can it be made now, with modern level of science and technology? It sounds too fantastic – free energy in each house. But not so long time ago ideas to have computer in your attache-case or telephone in your pocket were even more fantastic. May be we are in the beginning of the next technical revolution? And time comes when instead of polluting and expensive fossil and nuclear power we will use clean and free energy of space?

P.S. In the very simple words: “zero-point radiation” – it is what remains in space if you remove matter and thermal radiation, i.e. it is vacuum with absolute zero temperature.
