iOS 27.2 Beta 3 Is Here: the New Health App, Siri in Five New Languages, and What It Says About the Release Date

Apple is keeping up its fall software drumbeat. The company seeded the third developer beta of iOS 27.2 on Monday, October 5, exactly two weeks after the second beta, with the matching iPadOS 27.2 beta landing alongside it. Developers with the iOS 27 developer beta opted in can install it now through Settings > General > Software Update. Public beta testers usually get their build a day or two later, and a public beta of 27.2 has been running since last month.

The headline addition is the redesigned Health app, which Apple first showed on stage at the iPhone 18 Pro event in September. Beta 3 is the first time anyone outside Apple has been able to see the new Insight and Longevity tabs in action. The names suggest the shape of the thing: Insight surfaces trends pulled from your health data, and Longevity frames habits and metrics around long-term health goals. It is the biggest overhaul the Health app has had in years, and the beta finally shows how Apple is tying the redesign to the iPhone 18 Pro’s new health sensors.

Siri AI learns French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish

The other headline feature is language. Siri’s AI upgrade goes multilingual in 27.2, adding French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. These are the same five languages Apple said would arrive in October, which makes 27.2 their almost certain delivery vehicle. There is no smaller update scheduled in between that could plausibly carry them, so beta testers seeing the new languages now are looking at the release candidate set.

For Apple, this is a competitive deadline as much as a feature. Voice assistants from Google and others already operate across these languages, and every month Siri’s AI only works in English is a month Apple is not competing in some of its largest markets, including Japan, France, and Brazil.

Dual capture for Group FaceTime and the smaller app tweaks

Group FaceTime picks up dual capture mode, which lets callers show both the front and rear cameras at the same time. It is the kind of feature that only becomes interesting at scale, letting a group call show a reaction shot and the thing being reacted to simultaneously.

The Apple TV app gains user profiles on iPhone, so household members can keep separate watchlists and recommendations on the go instead of fighting over one shared history. Apple Podcasts gets a naming cleanup: “Up Next” becomes “New Episodes,” and the “Continue Playing” section moves below it, with color-matched backgrounds on episode lists. Apple Music dials back how much of an icon’s color bleeds into labels, a small design cleanup that should make the app easier to scan.

Why 27.2 ships after 27.1, and when you will actually get it

The version numbering hides an interesting story. Apple released iOS 27 to everyone on September 14, and there is no public 27.1 on the horizon. That is because 27.1 is effectively a private release: it is the software the iPhone Duo, Apple’s new foldable, runs out of the box. The Duo goes on sale October 23, with pre-orders opening October 16 in more than 70 countries. Xcode 27.1 beta arrived back on September 18 carrying the Duo simulator and the foldable-display developer kit, which confirms where Apple’s software teams have been focused this month.

That ordering makes 27.2 the next release for everyone else, and the cadence tells its own story. Three developer betas in about a month, plus Apple’s October commitment for the new Siri languages, points to a public 27.2 landing shortly after the Duo’s October 23 release. The most likely window is the last week of October or the first week of November, once the Duo is in customers’ hands and the 27.1 version number is yesterday’s news.

If you are not on a beta, the practical takeaway is simple: the Health app overhaul and multilingual Siri are weeks away on the stable channel, and both are worth waiting for rather than risking beta quirks on your daily driver. If you are impatient, the public beta is the safer way to try it early. Either way, check our full rundown of every new feature and hidden change in the iOS 27.2 beta, the iOS 27 settings worth changing right now, and what to expect at Apple’s October 13 smart home event, where the new hardware will almost certainly expect the new software.
