President Trump was incapable of keeping his ego in check when asked during a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Abe about the Nine Circuit Court’s ruling against his Muslim ban Executive Order. Trump set himself up for complete humiliation by promising to win a case that he continues to lose in court.

When asked about the ruling, the President said, “Well, your question was unrelated to what we’re here for today, but I’ll answer it. We are going to keep our country safe. We are going to do whatever is necessary to keep our country safe. We had a decision which we think we’ll be very successful with. It shouldn’t have taken this much time because safety is a primary reason, one of the reasons that I am standing here today. The security of our country. The voters felt that I would give it the best security, so we’ll be doing something very rapidly having to do with additional security for our country. You’ll be seeing that sometime next week. In addition, we will continue to go through the court process and ultimately I have no doubt that we will win that particular case.”
The Trump need to proclaim policy victories that probably aren’t going to happen is pathological. The odds are very good that if the Muslim ban case makes it to the Supreme Court, Trump is going to lose. Every step of the way through the judicial challenge to the Muslim ban, Trump has lost. A president who is already at or near zero credibility is about to sink even lower.
Trump is setting himself and his entire administration up for total humiliation because he is trying to hide his fundamental incompetence behind empty egocentric bluster.
