The use of social media is increasing by leaps and bounds. MySpace reports that they have 125 million users monthly from around the globe, with 65 million unique users coming from the U.S. alone. As an advertiser, this is huge for banner advertising. You can’t afford to miss out on this opportunity to target your banner ads and market to this Internet savvy audience. Banner advertising on MySpace is easy, here is how it works:

Creative

On MySpace, you can either create your own advertising banner using their template ad builder, or you can work with a banner designer to create your own professional banner. If you choose to work with a professional banner designer the following are the MySpace ad requirements:

· Medium Rectangle: 300×250

· Leaderboard: 728×90

· Wide Skyscraper: 160×600

· File Size: less than 600KB

· File Type: JPEG or GIF

Targeting

As MySpace is a member web site, they have a lot of statistics available on their vast and diverse users. As an advertiser, this is great news. You can work with MySpace to target your banner ads based on age, gender, education, relationship status, parental status, location, occupation and interests.

Pricing Options

MySpace offers very flexible pricing options – you can choose to pay on a CPC or a CPM basis. Similar to the way advertising banners on eBay work, you will have to bid on the CPC that you are willing to pay for your ad’s category. The highest bidders will get the most ad exposure. MySpace also allows you to set a budget and a campaign schedule, so if you want to stretch out a $150 campaign for a month, you can. It is important to note that you must spend $5 per day. In addition, you can have up to 100 campaigns running at one time with a different budget for each.

Tracking Results

MySpace offers free reporting so that you can make adjustments to your bids, budget and more, to best manage your MySpace advertising banner campaigns. Their reporting system gives you information such as the number of impressions, clicks, CTR and your total cost per advertising banner campaign.
