When searching the market for a new desktop computer, three stand out above the rest: The Sony Vaio JS190J, the Dell Studio, and the Apple iMac. These three computers compete with all others and make their case as best on the market.
Sony
The Sony Vaio JS190J is the fastest deal for an all-in-one computer. It comes with a DVD-RW/DVD-RAM / BD-ROM drive, an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor (3GHz), 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM, a 500 GB standard hard drive, Sony’s popular Memory Stick Pro flash card reader, and a minimum software package that eliminates hard drive clutter. Sony’s Vaio JS190J makes a great home entertainment system as well. The Vaio JS190J’s starting price is $1,499.
Apple
The next best desktop computer is the Apple iMac all-in-one. In addition to its sleek design, Apple currently upgraded its iMac with significant performance enhancements. With an Intel Core 2.8 Duo processor, an upgrade to 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM, a 320 GB standard hard drive, and an impressive 24-inch monitor, the Apple iMac makes for a great desktop. If one opts for the top of the line model iMac, it comes with an upgraded 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo processor and a 512 MB Nvidia GeForce 8800 GS graphics card. This top-of-the-line iMac runs for $2,199, a slight upgrade of $350 from the more standard model.
Dell
And finally there is the very affordable Dell Studio desktop computer. Dell’s desktop comes with a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad processor, 6 GB DDR2 SDRAM, a 750 GB standard hard drive and multiple expansion slots and interfaces. Dell’s Studio desktop is the most affordable of the three. Two models come at very appealing prices: The top-of-the-line Studio at $1,200 or the more affordable $799 model. These off-the-shelf computers are great for anyone on a tight budget.
