The great thing about the iPhone is the ability for the iPhone owner to customise the device to his or her own tastes. iPhone has become the most searched for term on many search engines this year with people clamouring to find new applications which are being developed constantly. These (usually) add extra functionality to the iPhone, adding extra features to the already impressive repertoire of features and capabilities.
There are also many hints and tips surfacing which can add to the day to day operation and enjoyment of the iPhone. I have compiled a list of hints and tips which the iPhone user can put to immediate use, from easier operation of the keypad to changing icons:
Larger Keyboard for Browsing with Safari
This is useful when using safari and produces the larger on screen keyboard for easier data entry. Before tapping the address bar, rotate the iPhone horizontally. Doing this will bring up the larger horizontal screen keyboard for faster and more accurate typing.
Check Balance
To check your remaining balance and / or voice minutes do the following. Tap Settings -> Phone -> AT & T Services. Then select "Check Balance" or "View Minutes". Your provider will then send the information via SMS.
Stay in Caps Mode
Tap the caps key twice on the keyboard. It will then change to blue and remain in caps mode until the caps key it tapped a third time.
Rebooting when the Home Key Option Fails
Apple recommend that to reboot in the event of the iPhone locking up the best option is to hold the Home button for at least six seconds. In some cases this will not work and the iPhone will remain frozen. Try holding the home and on / off buttons simultaneously for at least twelve seconds. This often reboots the unit when the first technique fails.
Scrolling within Web Pages
If you encounter a scrolling list within a web page it can be tricky to scroll the "embedded" section without scrolling the whole page. To overcome this firstly zoom in, then secondly use two fingers to scroll.
Change Default Icons
The default icons on the iPhone are playlists, artists, songs, and videos. These can be changed if you prefer to have alternative icons. Tap on the more icon to bring up the more screen. Then tap edit which will display a configure screen which shows a variety of other icons. To have any of these icons on the bottom of the screen tap and hold one of them and drag over one of the default icons to replace.
There will be more to follow! Thank you for reading and I hope you found something here to improve your iPhone experience.
