Samsung Begins Stable One UI 9 (Android 17) Rollout to Galaxy S26 and More

Samsung has started rolling out the stable version of One UI 9.0, its software built on Android 17, to Galaxy phones. Unlocked Galaxy S26 models in the United States are first in line, with beta program participants getting the update ahead of everyone else.

The rollout is wider than a single model. In South Korea, the Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S25 Edge, and Galaxy Z TriFold are also receiving stable builds, which means Samsung is done with the Android 17 beta program for the S25 series. Expect the update to keep spreading region by region and device by device over the coming days.

Which phones are getting One UI 9 first

Galaxy S25 FESouth KoreaS731NKSU9CZI5About 326 MB
Galaxy S25 EdgeSouth KoreaS937NKSUADZIFAbout 3.4 GB
Galaxy Z TriFoldSouth KoreaNot specifiedNot specified

The sizes tell their own story. The S25 FE build is the smallest of the lot at about 326 MB, which fits a phone whose beta program just ended and only needs the final delta to go stable. The S25 Edge build, at roughly 3.4 GB, is a full install, so S25 Edge owners should stay on Wi-Fi for this one.

One UI 9 is Samsung’s take on Android 17, Google’s latest Android release, which means this is a full version upgrade, not a routine security patch. Samsung typically rolls major One UI versions out in waves: this year’s flagships first, then last year’s flagships, then foldables and mid-range phones.

How to check for the update on your Galaxy

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Software update.
  3. Tap Download and install.
  4. If One UI 9 is available for your model and region, the phone will fetch it. If nothing shows up, check back in a day or two.

A few practical notes before you tap through. Keep the battery above 50 percent or leave the charger plugged in, and use Wi-Fi for the multi-gigabyte builds. Back up anything you cannot afford to lose before a major Android version jump. Stable means finished, not bug-free on day one, so if your phone is mission-critical, waiting a few days to see early reports is a reasonable call.

If the update is not showing yet, that is normal. Staged rollouts reach different models, carriers, and regions on different days, and carrier-locked phones in the US usually trail the unlocked models by a bit.

What is new: Now Brief, My FanCam, Security Brief and more

Samsung is headlining a handful of features with this release: Now Nudge, Now Brief, My FanCam, and Security Brief, alongside new privacy alerts and additional customization options.

What Samsung has not published yet is a full changelog for every region, so treat those names as the headline acts and expect the usual long tail of smaller refinements once the update lands on your phone. The privacy alerts and the dedicated Security Brief suggest Samsung wants security to be a visible part of this release’s story, not just a line in the patch notes.

When the rest of the lineup gets it

Samsung says the wider rollout continues over the next few days by region and device. If your Galaxy is not in the table above, it is most likely a matter of when, not if, as long as your model is inside the Android 17 support window. Last year’s S series, the Z Fold and Z Flip lines, and recent A series phones are the usual next wave, roughly in that order.

For a sense of how the other half of the phone world handles big updates, Apple’s iPhones are currently running iOS 27.2, which shows what a mature staged rollout looks like from the iOS side. We will update this article as Samsung confirms more models, regions, and the full One UI 9 feature list.
