You may be one of the millions of fans of the ultra popular PC game Black Ops. You may also have heard of issues playing this game on computers, wherein for no obvious reason Black Ops will suddenly run slowly and lag after just a few minutes of being loaded. This unfortunately is considered to be a complaint among gamers all over the world. This problem is caused either by a computer's failure to properly read certain hardware in the system or some damaged settings in the PC. Fortunately, this problem is easy to fix simply by following the troubleshooting steps outlined in this tutorial.

Why Will Black Ops Lag / Run Slower?

There are many probable reasons as to why Black Ops runs slow and even freezes on your PC. It can be caused by external factors such as a slow Internet connection. On the other hand, internal variables include slow processing speed, corrupted registry, incompatibility graphical interfaces, and hardware issues. To guarantee that Black Ops is running at an optimum speed on your computer, you need to use the correct set of system tools and settings that can repair operational problems found in this PC game.

How To Speed Up Black Ops Again

One of the first things that you will want to do when Black Ops is running slow on your PC is to check if you have the latest Windows updates in your PC. However, this is far from suggesting that if you have an old operating system in your system that you need to get the latest one installed. What you need to do is make sure that your computer has the latest patches and hotfixes and if not install them. This is because new versions of Black Ops are configured to work only with the latest Windows patches. To get the latest Windows updates in your PC, you need to first click on Start in your Windows Bar. Following this select the All Programs option. Finally, access the latest patches and hotfixes by selecting Windows Update. If this does not resolve speed issues with Black Ops, consider cleaning your registry out.

It's recommended you also clean out any registry errors that COD: Black Ops may have. Basically, the registry records all activities that occur in your PC. Along the way it will save extension files that are unimportant and unnecessary. Overtime, your registry will be overloaded with these redundant files which will only serve to slow your PC down, causing crashes whenever you attempt to load programs, extremely leading to errors. This can happen fast if you find yourself frequently accessing the Internet, which contains thousands of cookies that leave useless files in your system that are not self-cancelling or regularly download applications in your computer. To clean your PC of these useless files that cause errors to arise in your system, you need to use a registry cleaner.
