When I was younger, I was a social butterfly & I loved going out, attending events & meeting new people. As time has passed & I’ve gotten older, responsibilities have increased & I find, I really love relaxing at home, making a great dinner & enjoying a movie or reading a good book. I’m a home body mostly and I’ve found my comfort zone.
However, I recently made the commitment to get out more, attend more events & meet new people. I had been in the loop of seeing the same people & doing the same thing from week to week, day to day, in my habitual pattern.
I love the people I see from week to week, day to day, however, like anything else, if you want to grow & expand, you have to get out of your comfort zone. This can be such an easy trap to fall into. It takes effort to step out of the normal routine and it takes effort to be social. However, it uses up effort to keep doing the same things so much that we don’t even have to think about because it’s so routine.
So, over the past few weeks, I’ve stepped out of my zone and it’s been invigorating.
A few weeks ago, I attended & had a booth at an event for women only & met some fantastic women who I’ve already been in contact with & who have given me some great suggestions for my health coaching business. I even picked up a few new clients. I was beginning to think I knew everyone in town, but was I ever wrong. I didn’t know anyone at this event and it opened up my world to a whole new set of great women.
I also decided to change up my exercise routine & took a different exercise class. It kicked my butt & again I met some more great women.
This week, my husband and I attended a Raw Meet Up Group and met some great raw food enthusiasts & like minded health conscious individuals. We even learned how to make Kim Chee. We had some amazing food and AGAIN met some wonderful individuals. Do you see the reoccurring theme?
I didn’t realize how being non-social was actually draining my energy & spirit. Just a little effort can be extremely invigorating and stimulate your creative energy. So, if you are like me and you’ve been stuck in a rut, get out and try something new. Take a new class, attend an event & re-energize your spirit
