It's well known in the advertising world that color can be used to evoke emotions and certain color combinations can actually encourage shoppers to spend money. If you're taking trade show booths to an event, make sure your trade show booth design utilizes color well. This can help event attendees associate positive feelings with your business and this may even help increase sales.

Using Red Encourages Spending

The color red is what's called a hot shade. It's used to encourage spending and is seen in advertising from McDonald's, Toyota, Honda and more. Red is associated with power, energy, love and desire and using red signifies excitement and can be considered a visual call to action.

Using Blue Instills Confidence

Blue is a versatile shade and helps instill confidence in a company or a product. Blue comes in many different tones. Navy blue, for instance, creates strong feelings of trust, loyalty and tradition and is used by companies such as The GAP and Hewlett-Packard. Lighter shades can also be found in company logos like American Express and the United Way, but still signifies trust and loyalty. When used in trade show booths, blue immediately helps event attendees relax and trust that your company is looking out for their best interest.

Green Can Mean Growth

Green is an extremely popular shade for trade show booth design. Green can mean growth and money, which helps attendees feel like they can improve their business with your company's help. Green is also synonymous with the environmental movement. The television channel Animal Planet uses a green logo, as well as countless other environmentally friendly companies such as Whole Foods.

Yellow Attracts Attention

The color yellow attracts attention, especially when it's used alongside the color black. Black type on a yellow background is especially readable, which is why it's used on traffic signs. In the marketing world, yellow can be a symbol for low prices, so it's typically not used for high end brands. Companies that use yellow in their logos include McDonald's, Subway and IKEA.

Using Black In Marketing

Black is dramatic, sophisticated and powerful. Companies that use black in their marketing logos include The Washington Post, Black & Decker and Groupon. Black works well with bright tones and alongside red or yellow can create feelings of aggression.

Using Color With Trade Show Design Ideas

Coming up with trade show design ideas can seem like a difficult process. Since you'll naturally want to include your company's logo, that's a great place to start. If you're planning on including your logo on trade show booths, you'll want to choose shades that are complementary. Orange and blue are known to be a dynamic selling combination, as are lime and magenta. If you're going for a softer look, choose complementary shades of the same tone.

No matter which shades you use, make sure to create a proof of your graphics to make sure everything goes together and does not clash. This will help ensure your trade show booth design evokes the right emotion.
