Valentine’s Day, Sunday February 14th, 2010
Valentine’s Day is a yearly holiday when lovers traditionally express their love for each other by giving flowers, heart shaped boxes filled with chocolates, and sending Valentine greeting cards. It’s also a great excuse to bake all sorts of luscious Valentine desserts – chocolate and otherwise.

The Food Network always has the very best holiday recipes, and this year’s Valentine’s Day recipes are no exception. Their website is filled with tempting dessert recipes, ready and waiting for you to print off and bake your own. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Chocolate Tasting with Jacques Torres
Jacques Torres of Jacques Torres Chocolates in New York City explains exactly what chocolate is to Ted Allen of the Food Network. Cacao
beans and cocoa butter, sugar, vanilla and lecithin makes up dark chocolate. Milk chocolate is dark chocolate with a little bit milk of milk powder. For the chocolate tasting: Go to the market and buy about four types of gourmet chocolates. Figure on 1-2 ounces of each chocolate per person.

Start with the sweeter chocolate and work your way towards the more bitter, darker chocolate. Begin with the chocolate with the lowest cacao content first, and progress to the stronger, more bitter, stronger stronger chocolate. The most important aspects of a chocolate tasting is to pay attention to sight, sound (snap), smell and taste. Watch the Food Network’s video for the rest of Jacques Torres Chocolate Tasting.
