The X Factor television programme (as always) is a massive talking point for weekend tv and it got me thinking about why that is. Everything about the programme has to be something spectacular, from the staging of it, the hairstyles and outfits the judges wear, the kookiness of the contestants…every little bit of it is surrounded by controversy and analysis. The most crucial ‘ingredient’ is that people talk about it and remember it.

The same could be said of gift choices. It’s nice when the gift you have put so much effort into choosing is remembered and spoken about (in a positive way of course) for years to come. Thinking about my favourites that I’ve received over the years, they have been either made especially for me or are almost one of a kind.
