How to Speed Up Your iPhone in 6 Simple Ways

There are over 900 million iPhones currently being used around the world. A big reason why iPhones are so successful is because of how well they perform. However, these smartphones aren’t perfect.

As you continue to use your iPhone, you’ll eventually notice that it starts acting slower and slower. It will probably start lagging, and then freezing up, and then powering off at random times. Luckily, by knowing how to speed up your iPhone, you can then do certain things that will make your phone faster and more powerful.

Are you interested in learning more? If so, then continue reading and we’ll walk you through everything you need to know!

  1. Turn It Off and Back On

This is the first thing that you should do whenever your devices start acting up. Your phone collects random and essentially useless pieces of information as it runs. When you restart your phone, it flushes away all of that excess data that you don’t need.

This will help clear space off of your phone and should solve any bugs that you’re experiencing.

To do this, press and hold the Wake/Sleep button. A slider will show up on your screen. Slide it to the right to turn your device off.

After it powers down, wait thirty seconds and then press and hold the Wake/Sleep button until the Apple logo shows up on your screen.

  1. Get Rid of Unused Applications

You should periodically go through every application and game on your device. You want to remove any app or game that you don’t regularly interact with.

All of your apps take up space. They are also most likely updating and running in the background without your knowledge. The more space and energy that an app takes up, the more slowly your phone is going to run.

In order to uninstall an app from your phone, just tap and hold on it. All of your apps will start to jiggle. A button will then show up on the app that says Delete App.

  1. Update Your iOS

iOS updates are free and extremely useful. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t always update your phone when you have the opportunity. These updates will introduce new features to your phone but will also boost its performance and security as well.

In order to update your device, go to Settings, then General, then click on Software Update. Your device will look to see if there are any updates available and will tell you to Download and Install if there are any.

  1. Turn Off Background Processes and Automatic Downloads

A good way to help speed up your iPhone is to go the Settings app and click on the iTunes & App Stores button. Here, you’ll notice an area that’s called Automatic Downloads.

If your phone is the only device that’s associated with your Apple ID, then you should leave this on. However, if you have other devices, like a Mac or iPad, then you’d be better off have this option turned off. That’s because you could just automatically download new content to a different device and thus save space on your phone.

You can also stop background processes from automatically happening by having your phone be in Low Data Mode. An example of an automatic background process would be something like automatically retrieving emails in the background.

To do this, go to Settings and then Mobile Data and then Mobile Data Options. All you have to do after that is toggle on Low Data Mode. You can also ask Siri to turn on Low Data Mode.

  1. Clear Old Files

When you keep old and useless files on your phone, you’re just taking up storage space and slowing down your device. This kind of file can be a photo or video file, old text messages, or cached data.

To get rid of this old junk, just go to the Settings app. Then, go to General and then iPhone Storage. Here, you’ll be able to see what files are taking up the most space.

If you see anything that you don’t need, no matter how big or small, you should delete it. Even if it’s small now, it could end up consuming more space and energy later.

And if apps that you use are taking up a lot of space, you should consider uninstalling them and then installing them again. This will get rid of the cached data.

Of course, you can also always get more information about clearing cache and then really clear up your phone.

  1. Reset Your Device

There are a few ways to reset your phone. One way is to go to the General section of the Settings app. Then go to Reset and then Reset All Settings.

This is something that you should do when you need to troubleshoot and also clear out a bunch of old data. Just make sure everything is backed up. When you do this, you might have to re-enter some passwords.

The Importance of Knowing How to Speed Up Your iPhone

When you know how to speed up your iPhone, you’ll be able to keep your phone running smoother and faster for longer. Just make sure that you are constantly backing everything up. This way, if you delete something by accident, you’ll be able to get it back.
