How The iPhone 5 Is Likely To Compare To The HTC One X

The Apple iPhone 5 is set to be released at some point later this year, and already there are many rumours circulating about its potential specifications. It will no doubt be a popular phone, but many people are now opting for Android powered smartphones, with a notable new release being the HTC One X. In this article I will look at how the iPhone 5 is likely to differ from HTC’s new flagship.

Apple will never reveal the specs of their new phones, but rumours currently suggest that we are likely to see a number of improvements over the iPhone 4S. These include a larger screen, and it has been suggested by various sources that it will measure 4 inches. Although this is half an inch larger than the current iPhone, it is still some 0.7 inches smaller than the screen of the HTC One X. If this is the case, we can certainly expect the resolution of the screen to more than make up for the smaller dimensions. After all, Apple produced the first retina display for a mobile phone, and this has only recently been out performed by some other manufacturers, so we can expect equally impressive screen technology on the iPhone 5.

The processor is another area which is sure to receive an overhaul. The HTC One X is the manufacturer’s first quad-core powered smartphone, with a massive clock speed of 1.5 GHz. In order to compete, Apple will need to at least match this. In Apple’s latest release, the iPad 3 we saw a dual-core processor (with a quad-core GPU) which Apple claimed to be superior to a quad-core processor. In this case we may see this feature included in the iPhone 5, but only time will tell. Either way, we are sure to see outstanding levels of performance from the phone.

Camera technology on smartphones is advancing at a very fast rate. The HTC One X has an 8 megapixel camera, which is arguably one of the best out there. This has made many people think that the iPhone 5 will have a 12 megapixel camera. However, Apple tends to focus on quality of technology rather than just upping the pixel count. The new iPad for example, only has a 5 megapixel camera, but the lens and software technology is more advanced than that of many higher megapixel cameras found in other tablets and smartphones, resulting in superior images. The camera on the HTC One X is very good, and it will be interesting to see how Apple responds; whatever the pixel count, we can expect to be impressed.

Until it is officially announced, we will not know for sure what the exact spec list of the iPhone 5 will be. The HTC One X is currently one of the best phones out there, and if you are an Android enthusiast, it is likely to offer everything you could want. Apple fans though, may still have a few more months to wait until they can see the new iPhone.
