Top Benefits of Quitting Smoking

There are many benefits of quitting smoking. Some of the top benefits involve improving your personal health. Smoking has been related to many different diseases including heart disease, lung related illnesses, cancer of the lungs and probably other types of cancer as well. By stopping smoking you can start the process of reversing some of the damage that has been done to your body. Your body may take time to get healthy again, but you have to at least start.

Not only can you improve your own health, but you can help those around you to start improving their health as well. If you smoke inside your home or office, all those who live with you or work with you are having their health affected by your smoking habit as well. Second hand smoke can cause health problems also. This is another of the top benefits of quitting smoking.

People who smoke do not realize that smoking leaves a tobacco smell all over their bodies also. It gives their breath, their clothes, their hands and every other part of their bodies the permanent tobacco smell. No matter what they do, they smell like smoke and tobacco all the time. This is not a problem unless you come in contact with nonsmokers on a regular basis

Another of the top benefits of quitting smoking is the money you will save. In most states, cigarettes are taxed at a very high rate. This is an effort to get people to stop smoking, or at least that is what we are told, but it is a great source of revenue for the cities and states, etc… The taxing authorities want to make money and they know that people are addicted to smoking and may grumble about higher taxes, but they will pay it and get used to it.

A pack of cigarettes in some places are as high as $7.00 a pack or even higher. If you smoke a pack of cigarettes a day and let’s not go to extremes, let’s say you can get them for $6.00 a pack, that is $42.00 per week. At this rate you are spending £168.00 per month and over $2.016 per year on cigarettes. That is a lot of money in today’s economy.

Not only are you paying for the cigarettes, you are probably paying a higher price for health insurance coverage because you smoke also. Thinking about the money aspect of smoking should be enough to make a lot of people consider the benefits of quitting smoking.
