Choose an Artificial Christmas Tree This Holiday Season

More people are choosing to purchase artificial trees for the holidays rather than fresh cut. Some reasons might include the realistic appearance of artificial trees, lower maintenance, cost savings, and safety issues to name a few. If you are considering buying an artificial tree this holiday season, this article will give you some positive reasons why you will be glad you did.

The artificial Christmas tree has come a long way over the years. What started out as a tree of metal and dyed feathers or wire brushes has evolved into a tree so realistic looking that even by close inspection it’s hard to spot a fake. Today’s artificial trees are available in a wide variety of tree species, assorted colors, and varying heights. From firs to pines, with firm branches and soft needles, artificial trees look and feel like real trees.

The cost of an artificial tree is also something to consider when tree shopping. A real tree has a yearly cost of $40 to $150 or more, depending on where you purchase the tree and what variety you choose. An artificial tree can range in price from $100 to $1000. However, unlike a fresh cut tree that has to be disposed of at the end of each holiday season, your artificial tree goes back in its box to be used again and again. These trees are made to last for 10 years or more, making them the more cost effective choice.

The fact that an artificial tree requires virtually no maintenance makes them a popular choice. Unlike the high maintenance of a fresh cut tree, the artificial tree won’t drop pine needles or ever need to be watered. The hassle of stringing and restringing the Christmas tree lights is also eliminated as many artificial trees are pre-lit.

Choosing an artificial Christmas tree instead of a real tree also allows you to put the tree up and keep it up for as long as you want. It will look just as beautiful the first day as it does the day you decide to take it down. A fresh tree will only maintain its appearance for 6-8 weeks, if you’re lucky. Artificial trees come in an array of shapes and sizes, tall, short, wide, or narrow, allowing you to find the perfect tree to fit your room. These trees are easily assembled. Most people enjoy the smell of a fresh cut tree that you won’t get from an artificial version, so try using a pine scented candle or a plug in room freshener.

Fire danger is always a concern with a real tree. Even with constant watering the tree and needles slowly dry out making it a huge fire hazard. Most synthetic trees are made from flame-retardant products and use energy efficient UL approved lights. Make sure you purchase your tree from a reputable company; all major retailers sell trees with these specifications.

Making the decision to purchase an artificial Christmas tree should be easier now that you’re aware of some of its positive qualities. With so many reasons why the artificial Christmas tree is a better choice for your holiday, we are sure that you will be pleased with your tree for many Christmas’ to come.
