President Trump on Thursday attacked the “dishonesty” of the media and insisted that his administration was running like a “fine-tuned” machine.
After Trump spent a few minutes announcing his new nominee for labor secretary, Alex Acosta, he said he was there “to take my message straight to the people” because the “level of dishonesty in the press was out of control.”
“We have to talk about it to find out what's going on because the press honestly is out of control,” he said. “The level of dishonesty is out of control.”
He added that the media was “distorting” what his administration was doing to the “entrenched power structure.”
“Some of the media is fantastic,” Trump said. “They are honest and fantastic. But much of it is not.”
Trump dismissed reports that his officials were in touch with Russia during the campaign as “fake news.”
“You can talk all you want about Russia, which is all fake news,” he said. “In fact I saw a couple of the people that were supposedly involved in all of this. They didn't know anything about it. They never were in Russia. Never received a call from Russia. It's all fake news. All fake news.”
