Cloud Computing Services and Its Importance

Cloud computing is changing our lives in many ways. One of the biggest impacts it has on everyday user’s life is the ease of access that people have to their files, photos, music, games on the internet. Never before have we seen a technology which allows a person to access all of their files in a central location on the internet that is accessible from any internet able device like a Smartphone, a tablet, a laptop, or a desktop. Your information is stored on a remote server(Cloud), instead of being trapped in a computer. It’s also an easier way to transfer large files, like a video etc. Thus more and more people are adapting themselves to its benefits.

Classification of a Cloud

A cloud is classified as private, public or hybrid.

Private cloud is created within a business’ data centre and provides services to internal users. This offers cloud’s versatility, while preserving management, control and security.

Public cloud has a third-party provider deliver the cloud service over the Internet. Two distinct characteristics separate public cloud computing from in-house or hosted data centres.

First, public cloud is sold on-demand, typically by the minute or the hour. Customers only pay for the computing resources they use, such as CPU cycles, storage or network bandwidth.

Second, cloud computing is highly elastic, adding or subtracting resources on-demand.

Cloud Computing Services and Its Importance

After picking a cloud service log in to the service’s site to upload files, or download the application to your computer, then drag and drop files as you would to a hard drive. To access files on the go, download the service’s mobile app. Any changes to a document are synced across all your devices.

Following are some of the ways of sharing:

Drop box: One of the most popular options, this service lets you share files and photos with anyone, even if the person does not have a Drop box account. (You can e-mail a link to the file.) The first two gigabytes (GB) of storage are free.

Google Drive: This service holds on to old versions of files for up to 30 days, so you won’t be out of luck if you accidentally delete something. It also converts files from more than 30 programs, so you can save and open these even if they were created with software you don’t have. The first 5 GB are free.

iCloud: Apple’s iCloud service lets you access music, photos, apps, documents and other information from multiple devices but doesn’t offer file sharing.Considering the recent advances and offerings in Cloud Computing it is clear that this technology is here to stay.
