Bathroom Cleaning Tips

Looking for a faster and more efficient way to clean your bathroom? Read these tips below and you’ll be sure to make your bathroom cleaning more efficient and thorough.

General Bathroom Upkeep:

  • After your shower, take a towel and wipe the walls of the tub/shower, including glass doors. This will help cut down on any mildew growth by eliminating the moisture from the tile or other bath surfaces.
  • Set aside some washcloths for quick cleaning. Store them along with a spray bottle of your favorite cleaner in the bathroom vanity for quick and easy access. Use the cleaner to spray the sink and toilet bowl and the toilet itself. Start with the sink and wipe it with some water too.
  • Use another washcloth or rag to wipe the knobs and handles (this can really cut down on passing germs as viruses are so often passed through germs on knobs etc.) Then move to the toilet, using the same rag (this saves time and is easier) and wipe down the toilet.
  • Spray some bathroom cleaner on the floor, dampen a rag and wipe away any dirt. While this isn’t a thorough cleaning, it helps to keep up with getting rid f the dirt and germs so commonly found in the bathroom.
  • Keep in mind that times may vary according to bathroom size. But even larger bathrooms can accomplish a “quick wipe down” in 10 minutes or less. It will make your weekly bathroom cleaning much easier.
  • Toilet

  • Let the toilet bowl disinfectant remain in the toilet bowl for 15-20 minutes. Not only will it help with disinfecting, but it will really get the toilet clean and smelling better.
  • Got a stinky toilet? Try baking soda! Baking soda is known for its natural odor removing abilities. All you need to do is pour about 1 cup in the toilet bowl, just once a week (or more if necessary) and you will see a big difference.
  • Shower

  • To remove dirt and mildew from the corners of the tub or shower, dip cotton balls in bleach and let them sit, when you finish cleaning the bath, remove cotton and rinse well.
  • Vinegar is the secret to shower door perfection! For an extremely dirty glass shower door- pour white vinegar directly onto the shower doors and let sit for about 5 minutes. Scrub the doors with a light scouring sponge and you will be amazed! For lighter cleaning simply dampen the sponge in vinegar and scrub away the dirt.
  • Shower curtains can easily become full of mildew. To help prevent mildew on a shower curtain, soak it in a solution of water and salt. Did you know that many shower curtains are machine washable? Make sure you follow the instructions on your curtain. If you are unsure, keep in mind that tossing the curtain into the washing machine on a delicate or gentle cycle should do the trick.
