Trump Press Secretary Sean Spicer held a special press briefing to yell at the media and claim that Trump’s inaugural crowd was the biggest in history, which was a total lie.
Video of Spicer claiming that the media manipulated photos of the inauguration:
The White House Press Secretary yelled at the media and said, “Photographs of the inaugural proceedings intentionally framed in one particular tweet to minimize the enormous support that had gathered on the National Mall.”
Spicer continued, “Inaccurate numbers were also tweeted. No one had numbers, because the National Park Service, which controls the National Mall does not put any out….This was the audience to ever witness an inauguration, period, both in person and around the world.”
None of what Spicer said was true.
Here is the photo that Trump is selling as a million people:
Notice that the photo was taken from the front of the crowd, which is an old trick that is used to exaggerate small crowd sizes. The White House photo only shows the view of the crowd that was packed in front. The White House did not release an aerial view to show the entire crowd size.
In short, the White House is trying to mislead.
Here is a side by side reminder of the Obama crowd compared to the Trump crowd:
Trump’s inauguration was one of the most sparsely attended in modern presidential history.
The propaganda was flying fast from the press secretary’s podium, but wishing it doesn’t make it so.
The Trump administration is creating a false reality and hoping that the American people will play along.
