Comcast Sets Model For How Bundled Services Can Be Done Right

As technology gets more complex, it also gets more difficult to understand. This is an unfortunate side effect of technological progress, but fortunately technology has answers to address this problem as well. For example, the old fashioned text based DOS operating system was difficult to used even though it did a lot of useful things. But when the Windows operating system was created to provide a graphic user interface to work with the DOS operating system, computers became a lot more complex while also becoming easier to use.

Now there are a bunch of different companies that are doing the same things for telecommunications services. For example, there’s a lot of very difficult to understand engineering that goes into high speed Internet service, any kind of TV service, and modern digital phone service; but there are also a lot of different companies that take on all of those technical issues so that their customers can just enjoy the services themselves.

One development that’s occurred among telecommunications companies that’s intended to make the user experience much more convenient, is the bundling together of services. Basically with bundled services, the customer pays a single monthly bill for two or more telecommunications services. In addition to the convenience of only dealing with one bill every month and only writing one check every month, many companies will make bundled services even more convenient by offering a discount in exchange for having the services bundled together.

Bundling really makes sense when you think about it. After all, since technology has gotten more widespread and advanced, families have a greater need for a wider variety of telecommunications services. This need for more separate services has made life more complicated, but bundled services simplify it again.

The superior technology that some cable companies uses include digital cable TV, broadband cable high speed Internet, and digital phone service. The digital cable TV is competitive to any satellite TV programming package, but it isn’t subject to atmospheric interference like satellite technology is. Choice of broadband cable high speed Internet technology is superior to the DSL and satellite technologies that the competition uses because it provides a faster, more stable, and more responsive connection than either. In fact it’s many times faster than DSL, but very comparable in prices. It holds a triple advantage over satellite of being faster, cheaper, and more responsive.

While other companies will get their customers to sign up for extra services and then contract with other companies to provide them, some companies keep all of the services in house. This creates a much more cohesive customer service experience and is therefore more satisfying for the customers and better for business in the long run.
