Cruise Ship Destinations From Galveston

Nothing beats enjoying the beautiful time on a cruise ship, together with your friends and / or family. Currently there are two companies, offering cruises, leaving from Galveston, Texas: Carnival Cruises and Royal Caribbean Cruises. They offer cruises to these destinations:

Azores: Some transatlantic cruises out of Galveston stop at Ponta Delgada, a city on the island of São Miguel in the archipelago of the Azores, an autonomous region of Portugal.

Bahamas: Cruises visiting the Bahamas usually stop in Nassau and/or Freeport. Besides wonderful beaches, Nassau (capital and largest city in the Bahamas) also offers a very nice Old Town, with an interesting mixture of abandoned buildings and bright Caribbean structures.

Belize: Cruise ships stop in Belize City, the largest city in Belize, located on a small peninsula. It offers world-class snorkeling as well as scuba diving. Some cave exploration is also not to be missed, as they are magnificent, with huge caverns and tight passages, underground river and waterfalls and a wide array of mineral-encrusted stalactites and stalagmites.

Florida: Ships stop in Key West, the southernmost city in the continental United States. Besides enjoying the nice climate, you can spend your time swimming with dolphins, go snorkeling / diving or the enjoy the wonderful sea leave from a glass bottom boat. Key West is also a paradise for fishing.

Grand Cayman: George Town, biggest city of the Cayman Islands, offers various sites, like Boatswain’s Beach, home to over sixteen thousand turtles. The beach features a 1.3 million gallon saltwater snorkel lagoon, where you can swim with turtles and other marine life.

Honduras: Most cruises out of Galveston, going to the Caribbean Sea, stop at Roatán, one of the Honduras Bay Islands. It’s one of the hidden gems, providing some of the most stunning white beaches and the best snorkeling and diving spots in the Caribbean.

Jamaica: Cruises to Jamaica usually stop in Falmouth or Montego Bay, commonly referred to as MoBay, Jamaica’s second largest city. There you can relax at the wonderful Doctor’s Cave Beach, where the water is crystal clear and the snorkeling is incredible. Walter Fletcher Beach and Cornwall beach will also give you a good time.

Mexico: Cruise ships stop at various locations in Mexico. Among them is Cozumel, a Caribbean island just off the coast of Yucatan. There you’ll find great beaches and nice people. While the beaches are nice, most people come here, to see what’s underwater. Cozumel is also home to several Mayan archaeological sites, like San Gervasio or the Templo El Caracol, which is believed to have been used as a lighthouse by the Mayans.

Spain: Transatlantic ships also stop in several Spanish cities like Malaga for example, a large city in the southern Spanish region of Andalucia. It’s blessed with mild climate and also happens to be the birthplace of the artist Picasso. While there you can enjoy nice beaches, go hiking, take a look at the various architectural sites, go to some of the art museums and enjoy the Spanish cuisine. And of course a trip to Spain is not complete without visiting Barcelona, with its history dating back over 2000 years, when it gained prominence as a Roman town.
