An Overview Of Early Labor and Related Issues

Reading up on how to deal with early labor during pregnancy can help you tide over that time easily. Generally, what happens is that women start timing their contraction long before time and end up with a tedious and extra-long early labor. You must try to ignore your contractions, till your body tells you otherwise. It is normal for your body to experience mild contractions, as that prepares your body for the real serious ones, just before delivery.

Preparing For Early Labor during Pregnancy

  • Go through books and pamphlets that deal with labor and delivery issues.
  • Keep doing your prescribed exercises.
  • Try to get enough sleep during early labor, if you can, as once the real contractions start, you will not be able to sleep at all.
  • Relax and don’t panic as soon as your contractions start. Wait till they are strong enough for you to contact your doctor or hospital.
  • Tips on Labor and Delivery

  • Labor can go on for hours or even days so keep your cool and do not rush to the hospital. You might be confined to bed there or your activities may be curtailed. Then, it is a really boring wait for you till the actual time of delivery.
  • Do not try the relaxation methods long before they are needed. Wait till you hit the serious ones and then go on to use them.
  • Do not try and force your labor by using the labor techniques. You will end up only hurting yourself.
  • Stop your normal activities. Don’t try to be ultra-strong. Relax as your body needs energy for later on, to deal with the delivery stress.
  • If your doctor says so- walk as much as you can. Gravity will assist you enormously and birthing would be easier.
  • What Is The Labor Stage In Pregnancy?

The labor stage in pregnancy comes when you are very close to the full term of your pregnancy. There are two stages of labor:

  • Early labor is when the mild contractions start. This stage is non-threatening and nature’s way of preparing your body for the delivery.
  • The second stage is true labor, when you will start having the severe contractions. Now you are very close to giving birth.
  • Relationship between Labor and Delivery Nurse

You should meet and know your delivery nurse, as she will be a major source of comfort during your labor. You will depend on her from calming you down to handling your newborn.

Just keep reminding yourself that you have everything under control and will not panic during early labor.
