Is It Worth Paying Extra For The MacBook Pro Retina Display?

[ad_1]

So is Apples new MacBook Pro 2012 Retina Display really worth the extra $500 for the high-resolution Retina screen?

Well it all depends on what you want to use it for! Lets start by explaining what the Retina Display is and what makes it so ground breaking.

The term Retina Display is a marketing term given by Apple to describe the insane density display on both the iPad and iPhone. But now we have a level Retina Display on the new Macbook Pro 2012 15.4 inch notebook.

What Makes The Retina Display So Good?

Well the biggest reason is that it has a resolution of 2880 x 1800 which is better than my 27″ iMac which you will agree is just crazy. This new resolution gives the Apple MacBook Pro a whole new experience and feel and makes it’s fantastic to look at, drawing you in to the finest detail. It has been described by professionals and consumers alike as been the best display ever to have graced our eyes.

Apples IPS (In Plane-Switching) helps to make it possible to view from wider viewing angles than when viewing on a typical LCD’s. Apple’s Retina Display gives great crisp graphics and better colors, making blacks more blacker and never seen before clarity on whites and very wide viewing angles that make it practically viewable from anywhere around the display.

Still Not Sure If It Is Worth The Extra Money?

Well let us make it clear that it’s not just the screen your paying for, with the low-end15.4 inch MacBook Pro 2012 with Retina Display compared to the low-end15.4 inch MacBook Pro 2012 with standard display you get:

  • 3ghz i7 processor (same)
  • 8 gb RAM (2012 edition) compared to 4 gb RAM (2011 edition)
  • 256 gb Solid State Drive (2012 edition) compared to 500 gb Serial ATA Drive (2011 edition)

So with the new Retina Display MacBook you get more RAM and a smaller but much-much faster Solid State Drive (SSD) which improves the speed at which the MacBook can handle and process apps. Professionals and people who use movie editing software as well as Photographic software such as Photoshop and GIMP will benefit from the Retina’s insanely high-resolution. Casual users on the other hand maybe won’t get as much out of the new MacBook Pro with Retina but if money is no object then there is no denying that this is probably the best looking and best constructed laptop on the market and without doubt has the best display ever seen.
