If you’re in the market for a flight simulator for Macintosh computers, there’s a good chance that you’re having a tough time finding a great game that works well on your operating system. I was in the same situation a few months ago. When I was searching for a game, I wasted a lot of money on games that were either no fun or didn’t work well on my Mac.
In this article I’ll give you the #1 thing you must look for in a flight simulation for Mac computers. It may be obvious, but trust me, if you avoid following this advice you could easily crash your computer (on top of wasting money on a game).
So, here it is. Carefully inspect the system requirements before you purchase your game. Like I said, this is completely obvious, but almost nobody does it. I certainly didn’t when I first was trying to find a flight simulator for my Mac.
Chances are, the flight simulator you are considering doesn’t work well on Mac computers. It was simply designed for Windows and then sloppily redesigned for your Mac. It can be incredibly frustrating when you realize that when a manufacturer says their game will work well on a Mac and it nearly crashes your computer.
When you are considering buying a flight simulator for Mac computers you must look at the technical requirements that the game demands. For example, the following information is a sample of what you can expect you’ll need to have…
1. 2+ Ghz CPU Processing
2. 256 MB Ram
3. 1024 x 768 px Display with at least 16 bit color
4. Basic Graphics Card with 128 MB Ram
If you’re not a “techie” don’t fret. Here’s how you find all this information. First, go to the upper left hand corner of your desktop (assuming you are on a Mac right now). Click on the apple shaped icon, and select “About This Mac.”
The initial screen that pops up on Mac OS X operating systems will give you the necessary information you need about the processing requirements and memory requirements. To find the display information and graphics card information, click “more info.”
On the left hand side of the pop up screen, look under the category “Graphics/Display.” This should give you all the information you need to ensure that the game will work on your current computer. Not following this step can make finding a flight simulator for Mac incredibly frustrating, time consuming, and expensive.
