In the past summer, my aunt came to spend some time with us. The thing with my aunt though, is that she is he kind of person that tends to misplace her valuable items very often. In fact, the item could be literally in front of her eyes and she would be searching for it elsewhere. That’s literal by the way as there was an incident where she was looking for her eye glasses and she had it on the whole time.

While I may be making a little fun about my aunt, the reality is that we all misplace or valuables at one point of another. The most frustrating thing is that often times we are looking for them at the wrong places only to find them hours or even days later at the most obvious location. If only we had a way to signal the item with an alarm or something like when you are trying to find your car in a packed parking lot. That would be great right?

Well technology is already at that stage. Introducing the TrackR Bravo Device and App. A while back I was reading a technology blog and came across the TrackR device and decided that I would pick one up. After all, it;s a handly little device to have. So here’s my short review of the TrackR Bravo tracking device.

What is TrackR Bravo?

Measuring approximately 31mm in diameter, the TrackR Bravo is a coin-sized device made anodized aluminum that you can attach to your valuables. It works with your phone’s Bluetooth technology to track your devices within a 100-foot range. The device is powered by a CR1620 battery which the company says can last up to a year. I haven’t had my device that long so I can’t say much on the battery life.

If you have ever had an iPhone then you probably know about the “find my iPhone” feature. The TrackR Bravo is designed to work the same way except you can use it to track just about anything.

When you purchase the device which comes in four colors: black, standard silver, rose gold, and blue, you also get a water resistant case, a metal carabiner and a pet collar attachment. This means that you can attach the device to petty much anything and even track your pet’s location.

How Does The Device Work?

The first thing you need to do when you get your TrackR Bro tracking device is to download the associated TrackR app from either iTunes of the Google Play store. You’ll then pair the app on your phone withe the device itself.

The next step is to attach the device to your valuables or items that you commonly misplace. Perfect examples of these would be your wallet, car keys, or you could attach it to items that may get stolen such as your bike. Just add the device where someone wouldn’t be able to see it.

Within the app is a map which tells you the distance you are from your items and you can then press a button on the app and it will then ring the item so you can easily find it. In the case where your item is outside of bluetooth range, for example if someone stole your bike, the TrackR App uses a crowd GPS feature to locate your items.

Does The TrackR Bravo Tracking Device Work?

Overall, I would give this device a 7.5/10. The reason it doesn’t get a full 10 is because the bluetooth range is not long enough and also the ringer on the device could have been louder.

Overall though, this device is a very handy device that every household should have especially mothers with young children that often take up their stuff without their mother’s knowledge.
