Comparison Review – Apple MacBook Versus Apple MacBook Air

[ad_1]

The Apple MacBook

Macintosh Computers is going green with this stunning laptop computer. Talk about thin! At a mere.95 inches thick, this one beats out its competition. But the most unique element of this lovely laptop computer is its construction.

This computer has been expertly machined from a solid piece of aluminum. It is sleek, beautiful and eco-friendly. The dazzling aluminum and glass 1280-by-800-pixel LED-backlit display is arsenic and mercury free.

Don’t think that simply because this remarkable little machine is small that it’s wimpy. The extremely cool Aluminum MacBook delivers amazing graphics at up to 5 times faster speeds than its competition with a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M processor.

It weighs a mere 4.5 pounds and gives you 5 hours of gaming time on one battery charge. It has a built-in iSight Camera, as well as built-in Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

The 13″ Aluminum MacBook could easily become the new gold standard for laptop computers. It is definitely the newest “Dream Machine” of the 21st Century.

The Apple MacBook Air

At a mere three…that’s 3 pounds, the Apple MacBook Air corners the market on lightweight laptops. It measures 12.8 inches wide by.7 inches high by 8.9 inches deep. This lean mean machine is powered by the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which offers 1.6 GHz with a bus speed of 800 MHz and an L2 Cache of 4MB.

The 80 GB hard drive may seem small to some but laptops like this one are usually not the primary computer used by its owner on a daily basis. As a secondary laptop, the MacBook Air is more than sufficient. The 37 Wh lithium ion battery runs up to five hours. It includes a DVD player, Isight camera and microphone.

While it may be sexy and beautiful, the MacBook Air comes up short on performance and its limited software and hardware capabilities.

Pros and Cons

The major plus of this computer is its size and weight. If you’re in need of something easy to store or carry in a purse or briefcase, this will certainly fill the bill. However, you do give up a few components in order to achieve this diminutive size.

One of the biggest compromises is connectivity: you get a single USB port. This could be a real deal breaker for some. You also give up the optical drive but still have wireless access to the optical drive of other computers.

Bottom Line

The MacBook is a fully functioning laptop computer with all the bells and whistles you’d ever want to see in a computer of any type. It is priced at around $1399.

The MacBook Air is thin and lightweight but limited in its connectivity offerings, as well as hardware and software capabilities. The price: $1799.
