New Technology in Roof Insulation

[ad_1]

Prior to the early 1970s insulation wasn’t required in homes in the U.S. as part of the standard building code. Many people are surprised to learn this and are even more surprised to learn that their home or commercial building is lacking in or even devoid of insulation.

Standard building code in the U.S. now calls for R19 insulation in the attics of buildings and this is usually done by blowing in fiberglass or cellulose insulation when it is being built. The problem is that these types of insulation settle with time and can become compacted.

If you do a survey of the insulation in your home or commercial building you will most likely find that it is lacking to one degree or another and you will also find that your attic is also functioning as a heat collector that stores heat that comes in through the roof. Until recently insulting a roof was impossible to do because all of the insuilation materials that were available were soft and fluffy such as cellulose or fiberglass, so people had to put up with heat from their attic radiating down into their homes.

Now the technology has been Developed to actually cover the surface of a roof with a layer of polyurethane foam prior to it being roofed over, that blocks out the heat before it can enter into to structure. This type of insulation also works to keep heat energy inside the building during the winter months.

Polyurethane foam is a space age material that has twice the insulating value of standard insulating products and never settles or deteriorates. Its so staff and rigid that a grown man can easily walk on it after it has cured and not even leave a dent. It is laid down in a smooth discreet layer under the roof tiles and doesn’t change the look or pitch of the roof in the least bit and in fact is completely undetectable.
