Track Indian trains Live Location on Google Maps

The Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), on Wednesday launched Rail Radar which allows public to track the train movement.

“The Rail Radar system is primarily aimed at disseminating information about all the running trains at any point of time,” said Sunil Bajpai, group general manager, CRIS.

“We are addressing the needs of train passengers which have been evolving over the period of time to get accurate and precise information,” said Manish Rathi, co-founder of Railyatri.in a start-up that has partnered with the Railways to provide real-time train information.

The Railways also aims to enable GPS tracking on the entire network. The system enables a colour code method as trains highlighted in blue indicate those that are running on time while the red markers indicate the trains that are delayed or behind schedule.

Railways operate more than 10,000 trains everyday but currently the RailRadar can spot about 6500 trains, said a senior Railway Ministry official involved with the project. He said if you click on a particular train, the map will show the exact route of the train including all the stoppages and the current location of the train on the real time basis.

Railradar mobile application

If you open the above website in any compatible mobile, you will be automatically redirected to the mobile version of railradar application. But there is no dedicated mobile app at this moment.
