The Star wars series has an incredible following, of which I am one. The characters, space ships and technology are mind blowing at times. And for most of us we want a piece of that. We want to know what it would feel like to be a Jedi. One important thing that every Jedi possesses is a lightsaber. If you’ve ever dreamed of building your own lightsaber the good news is it is entirely possible.
There are several really good web sites on the internet that include designs, pictures and schematics of lightsabers that people have built on their own. In fact they are so popular that at times they are down due to heavy amounts of traffic. I’ll give you a list of these sites at the bottom of this article.
When you find a design you like you’ll find that it includes a list of parts that you can pick up at your local Home Depot or Lowes. The one problem you might run into is that those parts are no longer in stock or have to be ordered. So at times you may have to improvise on your design. Sometimes it will end up looking better and original and unique.
One word of caution is that running around in a store like Home Depot or Lowes looking for nails, pipes and other strange mixes can cause suspicion. As happened to me one time – the police ended up coming to my house. So just be cautious of that and if anybody asks just tell them you are building a lightsaber.
