Future Bill Gates? Learn How to Build a Computer for Kids

If you want to know how to build a computer for kids, look no further.

Many people are wondering how to build a desktop computer because they provide a lot of opportunities. You can play games and get work done with a good desktop, and they don’t require much to put together.

Building a computer from scratch will require you to understand what all of the necessary parts are. After you get all of the parts, you can put together the computer within an hour. While it may seem difficult, we’ve put together a quick guide to make everything simple for you.

Keep on reading to learn how to build a desktop computer!

Processor

One of the most important parts of a computer is the processor (CPU). The processor is responsible for handling all of the tasks that are going on within the computer. It essentially acts as the brain because it allows everything to work together.

When building a computer from scratch, you’ll need to decide which processor you’ll get because the other parts will revolve around it. For example, if you get an Intel processor, your motherboard will need to support it.

When it comes to choosing a processor, you can choose between Intel and AMD. Both offer a variety of processors to accommodate workstations and gaming.

Motherboard

After choosing the processor, you’ll need to find a motherboard that can handle it. Processors have certain chipsets that change depending on when they come out. If you have a newer processor, you’ll need a newer motherboard to use it.

Motherboards are also specific to AMD and Intel, so you can’t use an AMD processor in a motherboard designed for Intel processors. While this may seem complicated, you can find out which motherboards are compatible with your processor by searching it up.

If you have an Intel i7 7700k, you can search something like, “motherboards for i7 7700k.” You’ll then see several motherboards that you can use with your processor.

Graphics Cards

After deciding which CPU and motherboard you’ll go with, you’ll need to get a graphics card (GPU). Graphics cards process all of the visual data in your computer and display it on your monitor. Some motherboards come with graphics cards, but they’re often only useful for basic activities.

If you don’t plan on gaming, you can use the graphics card on your motherboard. When it comes to gaming graphics cards, you can get one from AMD or Nvidia.

Unless you want to spend more money in the future, it’s best to get a high-quality graphics card in the beginning. Video games are constantly evolving and require more power. Newer cards have more longevity, letting you play the most recent games for several years without having to buy a new card.

RAM

Random-access memory (RAM) is something that many people don’t think about when they’re wondering how to build a computer. RAM is what lets your computer multi-task because it temporarily stores data whenever you have a program open.

If you’re using Google Chrome while you have Photoshop in the background, your RAM will store the data from Photoshop so that you can open it. As soon as you switch to Photoshop, the data will be processed so that you don’t have to wait.

RAM essentially prevents you from constantly having to reopen programs. It also prevents your processor from working too hard because it will take the data until the processor needs it (when you open the program).

Today, most computers have at least 8 gigs of RAM because many tasks require a lot. Installing RAM into a Windows computer is as simple as inserting the sticks into the slots on the motherboard. You can learn how to upgrade RAM on Mac if you’re looking to build something different.

Storage

Without a storage device, you can’t put together a “building a computer checklist.” Storage is required for all computers because you can’t access anything without it. Your computer can’t have an operating system like Windows or Mac OS without a hard drive or solid-state drive.

Today, most people are opting for SSDs because they’re quick and don’t use any moving parts like hard drives. Using a variety of chips, they write and retrieve data within milliseconds. This lets you turn on your computer and open programs within seconds.

Power Supply

After you have all of the essential parts for your computer, the last thing you need is the power supply. This will power everything in your computer, so you’ll need a reliable one.

Depending on what kind of parts you have, your computer may require a stronger power supply. For a standard office computer, you can get away with a 300W power supply because you won’t be using much energy. if you have a gaming computer, you’ll need upwards of 500W or 600W depending on the graphics card and processor.

Now You Know How to Build a Computer for Kids

After reading this article, you know all of the essentials for a computer. Understanding how to build a computer step by step isn’t difficult, but you’ll need to start preparing if you’d like to build one. Before you build a computer for kids, think about what you’d like to do with it. This will make choosing parts much easier.

When you have an idea of what you’d like, you can browse the internet for everything. You may have to purchase parts from several sites if you’d like to get the best deals.
