Benefits of Monitoring iPhone Background Processes

A great system utility for the iPhone is one that does not only give users the info they may or may not already know. Common information that users seek like device model, memory usage are presented by most apps in the app store. However, one that tells you which app lasts to run in the background and which app does not deserve to be in every owner's arsenal.

Not only does these apps help in troubleshooting their devices should the need arrive, they also present users with a remarkable view of what their device is doing in the background; something Apple tries to hide away from the common users.

Why would someone want to see what's going on in the background while some others prefer to go about using their device as is?

With iOS 4, Apple finally bought multitasking to every compatible device. Great! Unfortunately, there's no way to tell what's running in the background versus what's the app you used. It would have been helpful if some app is capable of differentiating what's actually running and what is not. An app that is capable of tracing another app that is running in the background. Would not it be God-sent that you finally realize that App B is the one that's been killing battery juice while you search the web for an answer?

We know that a lot of iPhone / iPod touch users like to free up memory on their devices. And it does help when you are about to run a memory-taxing game like Modern Combat or Call of Duty: Zombies which also requires a lot of system resources. One solution to this is to actually run a "free memory" app before starting the game. But do you know, that "free memory" apps actually does its magic by filling up all available memory on your device before releasing it, thus creating the "free memory"? Do you also know that by "freeing up memory" in such manner, you run the potential of killing all other background apps? With apps that help monitor other background process, you get to decide what app places in background and what apps you can kill right before launching that game. Now, is not that amazing?
