For people who may not be familiar with the term "VESA compliant", VESA stands for "Video Electronics Standards Association". The common definition when referring to LCD and Flat Panel monitors is: "VESA standard" means a hole pattern on the back of the monitor; 75 mm x 75 mm or 100 mm x 100 mm (approx. 3 "x 3" and 4 "x 4" respectively).
